I have fought the good and worthy and noble fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith [firmly guarding the gospel against error]. 2 Timothy 4:7 AMP

When I first studied 2 Timothy 4:7 I was quite surprised to see how Paul described his journey on earth. Not once did he make mention of the wonderful miracles he performed or the number of churches he helped establish nor did he make mention of the number of souls he saved.

When I think about what I would say about my life on my last day on earth, I can't help but think about the number of things I have accomplished so far. I automatically determine how successful I am by how much I have been able to accomplish.

I am convinced and confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will [continue to] perfect and complete it until the day of Christ Jesus [the time of His return] Philippians 1:6 AMP

But what would God think about our lives on earth when it is all over, and that should be the question we should be asking. Paul says to the Christians at Philippi, one thing he is convinced and confident about is that God will complete every good work He has started in us until Christ returns. It appears to me God is more concerned about us completing what He has purposed for us to do on earth more than He is about what we have accomplished. God's purpose for everyone of us differs from person to person. God may us some of us to do more than He would with others, however, it doesn't make one more important than the other. Focusing on finishing your race by completing what God has called you to do no matter how big or small is what makes you a winner in the race of life.

In God's eyes you finish your race when you complete your calling and not by how much you have accomplished.
